Russia will supply nuclear fuel to Turkey's first nuclear power plant

Today, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said the Government's plans to purchase from Russia of nuclear fuel to Turkey's first nuclear power plant to be built in the province of Mersin on the Mediterranean coast. Recall that the tender for the construction of nuclear power plant in Mersin on the Mediterranean coast of the Turkish authorities announced in September 2008. It is noteworthy that it was the sole member of the Russian-Turkish consortium of companies, "ASE", "INTER RAO UES" and Turkish Park Teknik. But because of disagreements on the construction site and the cost of electricity produced tender was canceled on November 20, although the parties continue negotiations on the joint construction of nuclear power plants. Recall that the construction of nuclear power plant in Turkey was discussed at the meeting in January of this year's visit to Russia, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. It was a Russian-Turkish statement on the construction of the station, which provides for the establishment of a bilateral working group to address problems associated with the project.
